School Leadership Council

The Vision of the School Leadership Council is to be the recognized leader in developing and empowering speech-language pathologists for leadership roles, to affect change in Connecticut’s schools

Our Mission

  • Providing professional development related to leadership
  • Establishing and maintaining a leadership professional learning community
  • Creating a forum for speech-language pathologists in the schools to share information on issues related to providing programs and services in the schools
  • Collaborating with university programs to build bridges for new speech language pathologists by creating mentoring relationships
  • Creating connections with Connecticut school administrators and various state agencies to promote the need for leaderships in speech language pathology programs in our schools
  • Working collaboratively to ensure a the highest level of quality of service provision

We Operate As A Professional Learning Community (PLC)

The professional learning community model flows from the assumption that the core mission of formal education is not simply to ensure that students are taught but to ensure that they learn. This simple shift—from a focus on teaching to a focus on learning—has profound implications for schools.  Applying this to our profession would equate to a core mission of not simply ensuring that students receive appropriate services, but that we ensure they benefit from these services and make progress within the curriculum within their zone of proximal development

Membership to the online Professional Learning Community of the CT Speech Hearing Association’s School Leadership Council is available for all current CSHA members. This is an online space to connect, communicate and collaborate with SLP colleagues in school districts around the state of Connecticut.
